Inverness-based managed IT services provider, WePurpose Technology, has been named employer of the Year at the 2026 Highland Business Awards. The organisation which remotely delivers IT services across the UK and internationally, was set up 10 years ago with the purpose of creating employment in the technology sector using a shared apprenticeship model that can be more easily accessed by small public, private and third sector organisations. Collectively, the firm’s clients support new job creation and career opportunities by part contributing to the value of an apprentice salary through purchasing IT services or referring new business to the company.
The Highland Business Awards 2026 celebrate the businesses and individuals making a difference across the Highland region, recognising achievement in innovation, international growth, community impact, environmental action, leadership and the development of Highland talent. More than 270 business leaders, finalists, sponsors and guests gathered to celebrate this year’s outstanding achievements with the Awards supported by Principal Sponsor, The Highland Council.

The accolade is a particularly poignant win in the organisation’s 10th anniversary year, and at a time when the UK is experiencing unprecedented levels of youth unemployment. Organisations that create employment opportunities has never been more vital to the economy. Since 2016, WePurpose has employed and trained 29 people, many of whom faced barriers to employment, with most going on to build long-term careers in the IT industry. One of its earliest recruits, Matthew Dickinson, joined in 2017 when he was 16 without any formal qualifications. He went on to enter a Graduate Apprenticeship scheme and achieved a first-class degree at Heriot-Watt University, graduating top of his year.
Managing Director of WePurpose Technology, David Massey, commented on the win:
“Businesses can make a huge difference to someone’s life, and this award means a lot to us. Our team chose to enter us into the awards. They did that to showcase what we do for them and to win just underpins the importance of what we do, with purpose, and the genuine difference it can make to people’s lives. Over the last ten years we’ve engaged with over 480 businesses across the UK, Republic of Ireland and Italy and those businesses who have created sustainable employment and training opportunities for many young people. I am so genuinely proud of the entire team.”
With a growing client base across Scotland, the UK, and internationally, an increasing proportion of work is delivered far beyond Scotland’s Highlands, WePurpose is now focused on scaling its commercial services and its social impact.
